In an unexpected manner, a Ballet community member notified our team that they saw the Ballet wallets being used in season 6, episode 12 of the CBS TV drama, Bull.

Yes, our wallets made it to primetime!

The show Bull, which first aired in 2016, is an American drama series about a jury consulting team using psychological skills and technology to influence jury verdicts. In this particular episode, the story is about a Bernie Madoff-type character who commits suicide after the FBI discovers the Ponzi scheme he is involved in. He stored $160 million worth of bitcoin on a Ballet wallet and hid it in a picture frame. It is then discovered by the jury consulting team after he dies with the attempt of restituting that money back to where it should belong.

However, like with anything on TV to make story lines more exciting, the challenge of breaking into the wallet was added in for dramatics. To those who already are Ballet wallet users, the description of how the wallet works in the show does not correspond at all to a Ballet wallet. In the show, there is a 14-character password that gets deleted after 3 wrong guesses. (Spoiler alert) The protagonists do guess the password, because it wasn’t a random pre-generated password, the guy set the password himself, using a former lover’s name. The wallet desktop app used in the show is not Ballet, or any other actual crypto wallet that we are aware of. As you can see, the physical wallet itself has been modified.

They should’ve contacted us beforehand to make a better looking modified Ballet wallet, or they should’ve used the PRO Series, which in fact would’ve made their “breaking into the wallet” premise make sense (because the user creates their own passphrase).

But nonetheless, a definite cool cameo surprise to us! Using the Ballet wallet for long term private storage in such a discreet manner is an excellent use case. Although we do not condone being involved in Ponzi schemes!
